For routine operation of equipment away from its usual power source, a frequency converter with factory-set output such as 115V 400Hz or 440V 60Hz may be all that is needed.
Applications for a fixed output frequency converter include operation of equipment imported from another part of the world, and factory testing of products for export. Magnus Power variable converters allow fingertip adjustment of the output voltage and frequency. Although of greater cost, this type may prove to be more useful in a test environment, if there is a need to verify correct operation of equipment over a range of supply conditions.
